Patna: Vaishal Patliputra Milk Producers Cooperative Union Limited (VPDUSS), popularly known as Sudha Dairy, has taken a historic step for the welfare of milk producers and livestock farmers by officially launching the Jan Kalyan Fund Scheme. The inauguration took place at Dashrath Manjhi Auditorium in Patna.

During the event, financial assistance totaling ₹30 lakh was distributed to livestock-farming families who had suffered losses due to the death of milch animals or other unfortunate circumstances.
Jan Kalyan Fund Scheme: A Boon for Dairy Farmers
Through this scheme, the dairy union has demonstrated its strong social and cooperative commitment toward member farmers and their families.
The chief guest at the event was Tirhut Kapil Ashok, Secretary of the Department of Dairy, Fisheries and Animal Resources and Chairman of COMFED. He praised the initiative, stating:
“This effort by the union is commendable. Providing support to livestock farmers during difficult times is the true essence of cooperation.”
He also suggested that COMFED should implement this welfare scheme across all dairy unions in Bihar as soon as possible.

₹30 Lakh Distributed Among Affected Farmers
The Managing Director of COMFED, Sameer Saurabh, emphasized the importance of farmer self-reliance and said:
“The real strength of the Sudha brand lies in our hardworking rural farmers, and the federation stands shoulder to shoulder with them in every crisis.”
He explained that the fund was created entirely in the spirit of cooperation. Its primary objective is to provide immediate financial security to active livestock farmers and employees associated with dairy societies in cases of:
- Untimely death of a member or employee.
- Loss or death of milch animals.
Statements by Union Officials
The Chairman of the dairy union, Sanjay Kumar, stated that a total of ₹30 lakh was directly distributed to beneficiaries and their dependents during this historic occasion.
The Managing Director of the union, Rupesh Raj, said:
“The Jan Kalyan Scheme is not merely financial assistance. It is a tribute and expression of gratitude to our farmer brothers and sisters and their animals who have passed away unexpectedly. While this support cannot erase their grief, it symbolizes that the entire dairy union family stands with them during difficult times.”
Main Objectives of the Jan Kalyan Fund Scheme
- To provide immediate financial support to active livestock farmers and workers associated with dairy societies during emergencies.
- To offer financial security to the dependent family members of any active dairy society member or employee in the event of untimely death.
- To provide economic relief when a farmer’s milch animal dies or suffers a significant loss.
- To serve not only as financial assistance but also as a tribute to deceased farmers and their animals.
