At a two-day national seminar on “Dairy Development in Goa – Opportunities and Challenges,”
C.A. Arun Purohit, Managing Director of Sumul Dairy, highlighted the cooperative’s strong commitment to promoting sustainable and inclusive dairy growth in Goa.
Speaking to policymakers, experts, and cooperative leaders, Purohit said that India’s dairy success rests on the cooperative model — built on trust, transparency, and technology.
He explained that Sumul’s collaboration with Goa aims to empower local farmers through:
- Training and capacity building,
- Better breeding and fodder management, and
- Value addition for higher income.
Purohit also discussed Sumul’s on-ground initiatives that have helped small farmers turn dairying into a stable and profitable livelihood, ensuring fair returns and rural development.
Looking ahead, he emphasized the need for digital traceability, climate-resilient dairy practices, and innovation to ensure sustainability and self-reliance in the sector.
Reaffirming support, he said Sumul Dairy will continue to work closely with Goa Dairy and the Government of Goa to make the state self-sufficient in milk production and a model for cooperative-driven dairy growth in the region.
