Pinarayi: The revised master plan for the country’s first Global Dairy Village to be established in Vengad has been approved. Construction will begin soon. The project will be set up in Urpalli-Oravukand in Vengad panchayat with the aim of empowering dairy development groups. Survey procedures for land acquisition have begun. The draft of the detailed project plan has also been prepared.
A project officer has been appointed for the implementation of the project. If the Global Dairy Village, an integrated dairy development project, becomes a reality, it will ensure international-level product production and quality. The cost is expected to be over one hundred crore rupees.
Modern dairy farm
The project also aims to establish a modern central dairy farm for commercial rearing of Indian breeds such as Gir, Tharparkar, and Sahiwal, 10 satellite dairy farms, daily production of 10,000 liters of quality raw milk, organic milk, organic vegetable production, value-added products from cow dung and urine, a farm tourism center, and distribution of ice cream, butter, ghee, yogurt, cheese, functional milk, etc.
Employment for 1000 people
With the project, 1000 people will get employment. There are 12 dairy groups in Dharmadam mandal, which includes eight panchayats. 13,500 liters of milk are currently being procured from 1700 dairy farmers daily. International level production and quality will be ensured here. The program is to convert 35 lakh liters of local milk into value-added products and bring it to the market annually.

Excellent infrastructure facilities are being prepared, including a retail outlet, milk processing plant, milking parlor, office, guest room, feed godown and chef cutter, cattle shed, biogas digester, slurry storage, composting, honey processing center, bee museum, pedicure center, aquarium room, cafe, dining, fodder museum, guest house, hostel, HRD cum biodiversity management center, canteen, visitor center, farm intro court, indigenous farm, walkway to Kuttavanchi, pier/boat jetty, market pavilion, open market/caravan park.
