As many as 22 dairy and food-processing companies have proposed investments totalling ₹695.18 crore in Uttar Pradesh, with the projects expected to strengthen dairy processing, chilling and value-added manufacturing across several districts.

According to the state Dairy Development Department, the proposed investments could generate more than 2,500 direct employment opportunities, in addition to supporting jobs across logistics, cold-chain operations and related services.

The investment commitments were made during the state’s international trade exposition and are aimed at expanding organised dairy-processing capacity closer to major milk-producing areas.

Ace International Leads Investment Commitments

Ace International Limited has proposed the largest investment, with a planned capital outlay of ₹457 crore across Hathras, Aligarh and Agra.

The projects are expected to create around 1,500 direct jobs, according to the investment proposal.

Carebro Innovators Private Limited has proposed another ₹100 crore for production facilities in Ayodhya, Lucknow, Meerut and Bareilly, with the company expecting the projects to create more than 250 direct jobs.

Locating processing capacity closer to milk-collection areas could also help processors reduce transportation distances and improve the handling of raw milk before processing.

Investments in Dairy Nutrition and Regional Processing

Other proposals include investments in specialised dairy processing and nutritional products.

Anjum Dairy has outlined a ₹50-crore investment covering collection and manufacturing facilities in Moradabad, Amroha and Rampur.

Gwin Whey Protein has proposed ₹27 crore for specialised protein-processing infrastructure across Etah, Firozabad and Etawah, targeting the growing market for dairy-derived protein products.

Meanwhile, Gauri Food and Beverages has earmarked ₹14.65 crore for a dairy processing and beverage unit in Jhansi.

Together, the proposals indicate an expansion of dairy-related manufacturing beyond Uttar Pradesh’s traditional western milk-producing belt.

Policy Incentives Support Dairy Investment

The investment proposals are being supported by incentives available under the Uttar Pradesh Dairy Development and Dairy Products Promotion Policy, 2022.

The policy provides incentives for eligible dairy investments, including support related to capital expenditure, processing equipment and cold-chain infrastructure.

State dairy-development officials have also engaged with prospective investors on project clearances and implementation requirements.

Major dairy companies including Amul, Parag, Namaste India, Paras Dairy and Gyan Dairy also participated in the trade exposition, showcasing processing, packaging and cold-chain technologies.

Expanding Organised Dairy Processing

The proposed investments come as Uttar Pradesh seeks to expand its organised dairy-processing infrastructure.

Additional regional processing and chilling capacity could provide dairy farmers with greater access to formal milk markets while helping processors manage seasonal variations in milk supply.

The proposed projects also span a range of activities—from conventional dairy processing and beverages to whey protein and other value-added products—reflecting the industry’s broader shift toward higher-value dairy categories.

However, the ₹695.18-crore figure represents proposed investment commitments. The eventual economic and employment impact will depend on the projects progressing from proposals and agreements to actual construction, commissioning and commercial operations.
