Joint enforcement teams raid four units in Gondola and Nai; chemicals and non-food ingredients allegedly used to make analogue paneer also seized
NUH/GURUGRAM: Nearly 7,600 kg of suspected synthetic paneer was seized during overnight raids on illegal manufacturing units in Haryana’s Nuh district as authorities intensified their crackdown on the production and sale of analogue or non-dairy paneer.
The raids were conducted at three units along the Gurgaon canal in Gondola village and one unit in Nai, with enforcement teams operating from 9 pm on September 10 until 5 am on September 11.
The joint operation involved the Punahana SDM, duty magistrate (tehsildar), DSP, Haryana State Pollution Control Board and the Food and Drug Administration, Nuh.
Chemicals and non-food materials seized
Apart from the suspected synthetic paneer, officials recovered a range of materials allegedly being used in the manufacturing process, including milk powder, industrial-grade bleaching agents, soybean, fabric whitener, refined palm oil and white poster colour.
Authorities suspect that the materials were being used to manufacture adulterated or analogue paneer intended for supply across Delhi-NCR and neighbouring markets.
The seized food and non-food materials were reportedly destroyed on the spot, with officials preparing a spot panchnama as part of the process of handing the matter over for further police investigation.
Four product samples have also been sent to laboratories for analysis.
FIR to follow, says Nuh police
Nuh SP Arpit Jain said an investigation had already begun and that an FIR would be registered against those responsible.
“Our teams are coordinating with the administrative authorities and we will register an FIR against the culprits and take further appropriate legal action,” he said.

Officials have also submitted a complaint to the police seeking appropriate action under the applicable food-safety laws.
Crackdown follows concerns over expanding analogue paneer network
The latest raids come amid growing concerns over clandestine manufacturing units producing low-cost synthetic or analogue paneer in the Nuh region.
Investigations have indicated that such units are not limited to Gondola. Similar manufacturing activity has reportedly been identified in areas including Katpuri, Bara Bazidpur, Raniyala, Bodi Kothi and Sheikhpur.
According to officials, the products can enter wholesale markets, catering kitchens, banquet facilities and restaurants across Delhi-NCR, where they may ultimately be served in dishes such as tikkas, patties and curries.
Haryana tightens action against non-dairy paneer
The raids follow Haryana’s recent action against non-dairy paneer.
The state government has prohibited analogue or non-dairy paneer, following concerns arising from laboratory testing of samples. The Food Safety Commissioner has also invoked Section 30(2)(a) of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, imposing a statewide prohibition on the preparation of such products using milk powder or vegetable oil.
Officials have been directed to seize stocks and initiate criminal proceedings under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, wherever violations are established.
Authorities signal zero tolerance
Nuh Deputy Commissioner Akhil Pilani said enforcement operations would continue, stressing that the administration had adopted a zero-tolerance approach towards the manufacture and sale of analogue paneer and other adulterated food products.
Food-safety and pollution-control teams are expected to continue inspecting suspected manufacturing locations across the district.
Why the issue matters
The seizure highlights a wider challenge for India’s food industry: the growing demand for inexpensive dairy products can create a market for food analogues that may be difficult for consumers to distinguish from genuine dairy products.
For food businesses, the case also reinforces the importance of ingredient traceability, regulatory compliance, licensing, proper labelling and food-safety controls throughout the supply chain.
The laboratory analysis of the seized samples will now be critical in determining the exact composition of the products and supporting further legal action.
