Anand/Vadodara: The Kaira District Co-operative Milk Producers’ Union Ltd., popularly known as Amul Dairy, crossed a turnover of ₹15,114 crore in 2025–26, registering 7.20% growth over the previous year, as the cooperative marked its 80th annual general meeting with a renewed focus on farmer prosperity, technology adoption and expansion beyond Gujarat.

The figures were announced at the 80th Annual General Meeting of Amul Dairy and the 61st AGM of the Amul Research & Development Association (ARDA) held at Sardar Patel Sabhagruh in Anand. The meeting was chaired by Amul Dairy Chairman Sabhesinh Parmar.
The cooperative recorded average daily milk procurement of 48.35 lakh kg during the financial year. Its producer base has now expanded to more than seven lakh milk producers, with over four lakh supplying milk to the cooperative every day.
From ₹100 share capital to a ₹15,000-crore cooperative
Reflecting on Amul Dairy’s eight-decade journey, Parmar highlighted the transformation of an institution that began with a share capital of just ₹100 into a cooperative enterprise with annual business exceeding ₹15,000 crore.
He also paid tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Tribhuvandas Patel and Dr Verghese Kurien, whose leadership and vision shaped the cooperative movement that became the foundation of India’s dairy transformation.
For milk producers, the cooperative reported an average payment of approximately ₹1,035 per kg of fat during the year. Its farmer welfare initiatives also included an insurance assistance programme under which 98 families received financial support exceeding ₹2 crore.
Technology moves closer to the farmer
Amul Dairy is increasingly using reproductive and livestock-management technologies to improve productivity and strengthen farm incomes.
These include sex-sorted semen, embryo transfer, digital cow belts, calf-rearing programmes and Total Mixed Ration (TMR) plants. The cooperative’s 13 veterinary centres provided doorstep treatment to more than 7.81 lakh animals, extending animal-health services directly to producers.

Its semen station at Ode also received an A-Grade certification from the Government of India, reflecting its performance against prescribed quality standards.
Procurement network expands beyond Gujarat
The cooperative is also broadening its procurement footprint outside its traditional Gujarat base. Milk procurement operations have been extended into West Bengal, Maharashtra, Punjab, Andhra Pradesh, Assam and Tamil Nadu, strengthening the organisation’s access to milk-producing regions across India.
The expansion signals a broader strategy: building a larger procurement and processing ecosystem while creating additional opportunities for dairy farmers beyond Gujarat.
From domestic cooperative to global dairy player
Amul Dairy’s growth is no longer confined to the Indian market. The cooperative has expanded its business presence into the United States and Spain and is looking at additional international markets.
The international push comes as Indian dairy cooperatives increasingly seek opportunities in overseas markets, particularly for value-added dairy products and branded products with longer shelf life and stronger export potential.
₹43-crore Bio-CNG project to strengthen sustainability
Sustainability is another emerging component of the cooperative’s expansion strategy.
Amul Dairy plans to establish a ₹43-crore Bio-CNG plant at Ode, in collaboration with Suzuki Motor Corporation and the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB). The proposed facility is designed to process approximately 75 metric tonnes of cattle dung per day, converting an agricultural waste stream into renewable energy.
The initiative links dairy farming with the circular economy by creating an additional productive use for cattle dung while supporting the cooperative’s clean-energy ambitions.
Eight decades, with the next phase already underway
The AGM concluded with the unanimous approval of all agenda items, reaffirming the cooperative’s emphasis on farmer income, livestock productivity, innovation, sustainability and market expansion.
Amul Dairy’s latest performance illustrates how a farmer-owned institution built around milk collection has evolved into a diversified dairy enterprise with a growing national procurement network and an expanding international footprint.
After 80 years, the central idea remains unchanged: strengthen the farmer first, and build the dairy business around that foundation.
80 years of trust. Millions of farmers. One enduring cooperative vision.
