The enforcement action, carried out for the second consecutive day, was conducted under the directives of the Uttar Pradesh Food Commissioner and the instructions of District Magistrate Kapil Singh.

Raids at Two Spice Manufacturing Units

The inspection team first visited Rakesh Masala Company located in the Rania Industrial Area. Officials collected eight samples of various spice products, including turmeric powder, coriander seeds, coriander powder, cinnamon, and red chili powder for quality and adulteration testing.

Subsequently, the team raided Rajeshwari Spice Foods Limited in Jainpur, where nine additional samples were collected. The sampled products included whole turmeric, turmeric powder, coriander powder, garam masala, and meat masala.

Products Worth ₹10 Lakh Seized

During the inspections, FSDA officials seized approximately 19 quintals of spice products suspected of quality violations. The total value of the seized stock is estimated at nearly ₹10 lakh.

Officials stated that all collected samples have been sent to an accredited laboratory for detailed analysis. Regulatory action will be initiated based on the findings of the laboratory reports.

Authorities Warn Adulterators

Assistant Food Commissioner Ram Avtar reiterated the department’s commitment to eliminating food adulteration and ensuring consumer safety.

“Those involved in food adulteration will face strict action. The enforcement drive will continue across the district,” he said.

District Magistrate Kapil Singh emphasized that public health remains a top priority and warned that any individual or business found compromising food safety standards would be dealt with firmly under the law.

Industry on Alert

The consecutive raids conducted over the past two days have triggered concern among spice manufacturers and food business operators in the district. Industry observers believe the intensified surveillance reflects the administration’s determination to curb adulteration and strengthen food safety compliance.

Food safety experts note that routine sampling and strict enforcement are critical for protecting consumers from substandard and adulterated food products, particularly spices, which are among the most commonly adulterated commodities in India.

The outcome of the laboratory investigations is now awaited, following which authorities are expected to determine the next course of legal action against any violators.
