Lucknow | News Desk : In one of the state’s largest enforcement drives against milk adulteration, the Uttar Pradesh Food Safety and Drug Administration (FSDA) conducted raids at 489 locations across the state, resulting in the seizure of food products worth more than ₹9.72 crore. During the operation, officials collected 658 samples of milk and dairy products for laboratory testing, while food items valued at ₹21.85 lakh, found unfit for human consumption, were destroyed.

The state-wide special campaign targeted milk and dairy products, including milk, ghee, paneer, khoa, curd, and skimmed milk powder, to ensure compliance with food safety standards and curb adulteration.
₹9.45 Crore Worth of Ghee Seized in Kanpur Dehat
The largest seizure of the campaign took place in Kanpur Dehat, where officials inspected Bhole Baba Milk Foods Industries. Authorities seized approximately 1.31 lakh kilograms of ghee, valued at around ₹9.45 crore, for alleged violations of packaging and labelling regulations. The inspection team also collected 13 samples from the facility for detailed laboratory analysis.
4,000 kg of Unclaimed Khoa Destroyed Near Agra Railway Station
In Agra, food safety officials recovered 4,000 kilograms of unhygienically stored, unclaimed khoa near Agra Cantt Railway Station. The entire consignment, estimated to be worth ₹9 lakh, was confiscated and destroyed to prevent it from entering the consumer market.

Dairy Licence Suspended in Mathura
A raid on a dairy unit in Mathura revealed 1,200 kilograms of paneer and 3,000 litres of milk stored under unhygienic conditions. The Food Safety Department destroyed the contaminated products, suspended the dairy’s licence, and ordered an immediate halt to production operations.
Action Extends Across Multiple Districts
The enforcement campaign also covered Baghpat, Ghaziabad, Firozabad, Meerut, Gautam Buddh Nagar, Muzaffarnagar, and Amroha. In Baghpat, contaminated cream and paneer stored in unhygienic conditions were destroyed, while approximately 4,050 kilograms of food products were seized in Ghaziabad. Significant quantities of ghee, paneer, khoa, and skimmed milk powder were also seized or sampled in other districts as part of the crackdown.
Strict Action Against Adulteration to Continue
FSDA Secretary and Commissioner Mrs. Roshan Jacob directed officials to continue strict enforcement against food adulteration and violations of food safety standards. At the same time, she instructed enforcement teams to avoid unnecessary harassment of small-scale and retail food businesses while taking action against serious offenders.
The large-scale operation comes at a crucial time, with the festive and wedding season driving increased demand for milk and dairy products. The crackdown raises an important question: How did such massive quantities of suspected substandard dairy products remain within the supply chain before being detected by the authorities? The ongoing investigation and laboratory analysis are expected to determine whether the seized products were merely non-compliant with labelling regulations or also unsafe for human consumption.
