According to an official release, the facility has been established at a total investment of ₹16.80 crore, comprising a ₹6 crore grant from the Government of India and ₹10.80 crore contributed by the Bhopal Cooperative Milk Union.

The plant has a milk processing capacity of 40,000 litres per day and is equipped with modern machinery for the production of a range of fermented and other value-added dairy products.

Facility to Produce Curd, Buttermilk, Lassi and Shrikhand

According to project details, the facility will have the capacity to process:

  • 10,000 litres of milk per day
  • 10,000 litres of curd per day
  • 30,000 litres of buttermilk per day

The plant will also have daily production capacity of approximately 1,000 litres of lassi, 800 kg of shrikhand and 1,000 kg of mawa.

The new infrastructure is intended to bring the production of milk-based products under a more systematic and modern processing system, while expanding the range and production capacity of Sanchi, the cooperative dairy brand of Madhya Pradesh.

Focus on Dairy Value Addition

Jaidev Biswas, Managing Director of the Bhopal Cooperative Milk Union, described the facility as an important initiative for modernising dairy processing and increasing value addition.

He said the plant would support the production of products such as curd, buttermilk, lassi, shrikhand and mawa, while integrating the cooperative dairy system with modern processing technology.

The facility will supplement the Bhopal Cooperative Milk Union’s existing milk-processing infrastructure and provide additional capacity for value-added dairy products.

Strengthening the Sanchi Dairy Chain

The new plant is also expected to support greater diversification of dairy products and enable production to respond more closely to market demand.

For the Sanchi brand, the facility is positioned to strengthen the processing and marketing chain for milk and milk-based products by expanding value-added production alongside conventional liquid milk processing.

The project reflects the broader shift in the dairy sector towards value addition, product diversification and modern processing infrastructure, allowing cooperative milk unions to generate greater value from procured milk while responding to changing consumer demand.
