Telangana ;Five women milk producers were felicitated during the foundation-laying ceremony of the Sabar Dairy Telangana Project, recognising their contribution to dairy farming, cooperative milk production and rural livelihoods.

The women were honoured in the presence of Union Minister of Coal and Mines G Kishan Reddy, Secretary of the Ministry of Cooperation Ashish Bhutani and other senior officials and stakeholders from the cooperative sector.

Five women producers recognised

The women felicitated at the event were:

  • Miryala Manjula — Ravichedu village
  • Gayam Radha Latha — Guditanda
  • Punyamurthi Sujatha — Singaram
  • Shobha — Kadthal Madugula
  • Anitha — Japala village

The recognition highlighted the growing participation of women in India’s dairy cooperative movement, particularly at the milk-production and grassroots level.

Women’s role in the dairy cooperative sector

Women play an important role in India’s dairy economy, contributing to livestock management, milking, animal care and household income generation. Their participation in organised cooperatives can also provide greater access to formal milk procurement systems, markets, technical services and institutional support.

The organisers said recognising women dairy entrepreneurs is an important component of strengthening cooperative institutions and promoting rural economic development.

Sabar Dairy project to expand dairy opportunities

The Sabar Dairy project in Telangana is being positioned as a major addition to the state’s organised dairy-processing infrastructure. The project is expected to create additional opportunities for milk producers while strengthening linkages between farmers, cooperative societies and organised dairy processing.

The felicitation of the five women producers at the project ceremony also underscored the broader focus on women’s participation, farmer incomes and cooperative-led dairy development under the expanding dairy ecosystem in Telangana.
