Govt of India implements Rashtriya Gokul Mission for Promotion of Dairy Industry

In a significant boost to India’s dairy industry, the Government of India has reported a 63.5% increase in milk production over the past decade — from 146.31 million tonnes in 2014-15 to 239.3 million tonnes in 2023-24. The state of Odisha alone has seen a 39% rise, growing from 18.98 lakh tonnes to 26.30 lakh tonnes during the same period.

This growth has been driven by the Rashtriya Gokul Mission (RGM) and several related schemes, which aim to improve indigenous breeds, boost milk yield, and make dairying more profitable for farmers.
