THIRUVANANTHAPURAM : Kerala dairy cooperative Milma has launched four new value-added dairy products as it seeks to diversify its portfolio and respond to changing consumer preferences.

The new products were launched by Minister for Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development Bindhu Krishna at an event organised by the Thiruvananthapuram Regional Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union (TRCMPU) at Lulu Mall in Thiruvananthapuram. Cine artist Meenakshi Anoop also participated in the launch.
Four New Products Enter the Market
The new portfolio includes:
- Milma Paneer Pops – Peri-Peri
- Milma Paneer Pops – Chettinad
- Milma Sweetened Yogurt
- Milma Blueberry-Flavoured Yogurt
The launch reflects Milma’s growing focus on the value-added dairy segment, moving beyond its traditional association with milk and curd.
The Paneer Pops are prepared using Milma paneer, a blend of spices and crispy bread crumbs. The frozen ready-to-cook product is designed for quick preparation through conventional frying or an air fryer, positioning it as a convenient snack for households and social occasions.
Yogurt Products Target Nutrition and Convenience
Milma’s new yogurt range includes Sweetened Yogurt and Blueberry-Flavoured Yogurt, both made from milk and set using probiotic yogurt cultures.
The products are aimed at both children and adults, combining dairy nutrition with convenience and flavour variety. Yogurt is naturally a source of protein and calcium, while products containing live beneficial cultures can also contribute to a balanced diet and digestive health.

The Sweetened Yogurt is positioned around a familiar sweet dairy flavour, while the Blueberry variant targets consumers seeking a fruit-flavoured dairy option.
Minister Defends Milma’s Quality Standards
Speaking at the launch, Minister Bindhu Krishna urged consumers not to be influenced by what she described as “adverse propaganda” against Milma.
She said recent negative reports concerning the cooperative were unfounded and stated that she had personally verified the matter.
According to the minister, Milma products undergo stringent quality-control procedures and multiple tests intended to ensure quality, safety and authenticity.
From Milk Cooperative to Value-Added Dairy Brand
The minister highlighted Milma’s transformation from a cooperative primarily identified with milk and curd into a broader dairy organisation offering a growing portfolio of value-added products.
She said these products are being developed using scientific research and in response to changing consumer preferences.
The strategy reflects a wider shift across India’s dairy industry, where cooperatives and private companies are increasingly looking beyond liquid milk towards categories such as flavoured dairy, yogurt, paneer-based snacks and other convenient products.
Milk Self-Sufficiency Target for Kerala
The minister also highlighted the importance of dairy farmers to Kerala’s economy and the state’s dairy sector.
She recalled that Chief Minister V. D. Satheesan had set a target on June 1 for Kerala to become self-sufficient in milk production by increasing the state’s daily milk output to one crore litres.
Milma, she said, would continue working towards strengthening its position among India’s leading dairy brands through quality milk and an expanded value-added product portfolio.
‘Ona Kazhcha’ Kit Also Unveiled
The event also saw the unveiling of Milma’s ‘Ona Kazhcha’ product kit, which was handed over to C. N. Valsalan Pillai, Chairman of the Ernakulam Regional Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union (ERCMPU).
The launch marks another step in Milma’s efforts to strengthen its presence in the value-added dairy market, while simultaneously expanding consumer choice and creating greater opportunities across Kerala’s dairy value chain.
