Release of Basic Animal Husbandry Statistics 2025 on National Milk Day

New Delhi, November 26, 2025 — The Government of India released the Basic Animal Husbandry Statistics (BAHS) 2025, the country’s most authoritative dataset on livestock and dairy sector performance, during the National Milk Day celebration held at Sushma Swaraj Bhawan.

Animal Husbandry Statistics 2025 on National Milk Day

The report was officially unveiled by Prof. S. P. Singh Baghel, Hon’ble Minister of State, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying and Panchayati Raj. He was joined by Shri George Kurian, Hon’ble Minister of State, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying and Minority Affairs, Shri Naresh Pal Gangwar, Secretary, DAHD, and other senior dignitaries.

A Comprehensive Data Backbone for India’s Livestock Sector

BAHS 2025 is built upon the Integrated Sample Survey (ISS) conducted from 1 March 2024 to 29 February 2025, the only survey of its kind in the country that generates scientifically validated estimates on:

  • Milk, Egg, Meat, Wool production
  • Per-capita availability of livestock products
  • State-wise performance data
  • Livestock population involved in production
  • Animals slaughtered and sheep shorn
  • Veterinary infrastructure: hospitals, polyclinics, state farms, gaushalas
  • Artificial insemination performance
  • Global livestock comparisons

The publication is a core reference for policymakers, researchers, cooperative planners, and international agencies because it forms the statistical foundation for performance evaluation, programme design, and future-ready livestock policies.
