Hyderabad: Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to lay the foundation stone for the Sabar Dairy project at Urjee Industrial Park in Toopran, Medak district, during his visit to Telangana on Sunday, Union Coal and Mines Minister G Kishan Reddy said.

Sabar Dairy is a member of the Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) and markets its dairy products under the Amul brand.
Plant to process 5 lakh litres of milk a day
According to Kishan Reddy, the proposed facility will have an initial milk processing capacity of 5 lakh litres per day and will include a broad portfolio of value-added dairy production.
The planned daily production capacities include:
- Curd: 200 metric tonnes
- Buttermilk: 30 kilolitres
- Lassi: 30 kilolitres
- Paneer: 10 metric tonnes
- Ice cream: 50 kilolitres
- Fresh sweets: 3 metric tonnes
- Bakery products: 5 metric tonnes
- Ghee: 5 metric tonnes
The minister said the ice-cream facility could eventually be expanded to 1 lakh litres per day, while fresh-sweets capacity could be increased to 5 metric tonnes per day.
Focus on value-added dairy and farmers
Reddy said the project is expected to strengthen Telangana’s dairy ecosystem by expanding processing capacity, increasing value creation and creating additional market opportunities for dairy farmers.

The project could also support employment across milk procurement, processing, cold-chain logistics, packaging and distribution, although the eventual scale of these benefits will depend on the plant’s operations and farmer network.
Project linked to White Revolution 2.0
The Sabar Dairy project is also being positioned within the broader framework of White Revolution 2.0, launched by the Centre in September 2024.
According to Reddy, the programme aims to strengthen dairy cooperatives, expand market access, generate employment, promote women’s participation and increase milk procurement through cooperatives by 50% by 2028–29.
The national programme targets the establishment of 75,000 new dairy cooperative societies by 2029, including 1,525 in Telangana, he said.
For Telangana, the proposed Sabar Dairy facility represents a major planned addition to organised dairy-processing infrastructure, with its emphasis on both liquid milk processing and a wide range of value-added products.
