Under its BRICS Chairship 2026, India took a significant step toward strengthening international cooperation in the livestock sector by hosting the High-Level Dialogue on Advanced Livestock Technology and Feed Systems (ALT&FS) under the BRICS Agricultural Working Group. The virtual meeting was organized by the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying (DAHD), Government of India, from Krishi Bhawan, New Delhi.

The dialogue brought together policymakers, scientists, researchers, and international experts from BRICS nations and partner countries to discuss innovations in livestock technology, animal nutrition, and sustainable feed systems aimed at building resilient and productive livestock sectors.
High-Level Participation
The event witnessed participation from senior Indian government leaders, including:
- Rajiv Ranjan Singh
- S. P. Singh Baghel
- Naresh Pal Gangwar
- Varsha Joshi
- Meenesh Shah
Experts and representatives from Brazil, China, Russia, India, Ethiopia, Indonesia, United Arab Emirates and Iran also joined the discussions.
The dialogue featured participation from Food and Agriculture Organization through Thanawat Tiensin.
Focus on Innovation and Sustainability
Addressing the gathering, Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh highlighted the critical role of livestock in supporting rural livelihoods, women’s empowerment, nutritional security, and economic growth across BRICS nations.
He emphasized that challenges such as climate change, feed shortages, animal diseases, and low productivity require innovative and sustainable solutions. He called for stronger cooperation among BRICS countries to build resilient livestock systems capable of meeting future food demands.
Minister of State S. P. Singh Baghel stressed that advanced livestock technologies and sustainable feed systems will be essential for ensuring long-term growth of the livestock sector while safeguarding environmental sustainability.
NDDB Highlights Need for Collaboration
Delivering the welcome address from Anand, Gujarat, NDDB Chairman Meenesh Shah underlined the importance of innovation, scientific collaboration, and sustainable feed management for strengthening both livestock and dairy sectors.
Secretary Naresh Pal Gangwar noted that livestock remains a cornerstone of food security, rural employment, and inclusive economic development. He emphasized the need for quality feed resources, technological innovation, and research partnerships.
